- I believe a Rotary blood drive is a way to serve the public well and gain trust and confidence. It is also a good way to promote Rotary awareness and enhance public relations with Rotary clubs, says Terence Lam, Rotary Club of Puchong Centennial, District 3300, Organizer of the National Blood Donation Drive in Malaysia 2006. Report on National Blood Donation Drive 2006 in Malaysia

By Terence Lam, Organizing Chairman - National Blood Donation Drive 2006.

The Rotary Club of Puchong Centennial (District 3300) hosted the Rotary National Blood Donation Drive (NBDD) in Malaysia on 18th June 2006.

It was a blood donor project where all participating Rotary clubs could organize blood donation campaign at their respective locationsjointly with local blood banks.

Our main objective was to campaign and create public awareness regarding the importance of giving blood.

There were a total of 10 clubs that participated in this nationwide project. Ourprogram ran from 10 amtill 4 pmand we managed to collect a total of 247 pint/units of blood.

At our host premises, we had also invited a medical center to provide free health screening to the public. This greatly boosted the campaign as more members of the public were drawn in and exposed to the importance of donating blood.

This was the first time my Rotary club (Rotary Club of Puchong Centennial) organized a nationwide blood drive.

I believe a Rotary blood drive is a way to serve the public well and gain trust and confidence. It is also a good way to promote Rotary awareness and enhance public relations with Rotary clubs.
