Rotary Club of Accra - Ring Road Central in partnership with Rotary Clubs in Ghana and The National Blood Service of Ghana to lead a Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign.
This campaign has been developed with the following objectives:
1. Address the shortage of blood in Ghana
2. Take blood donation from once a year to a lifestyle for Ghanaians as part of their social duty
3. Give Rotary more publicity by demonstrating what we are really about as we continue to serve humanity
The holiday season is the perfect time to encourage people to give the gift of life.
The nationwide target is to collect 2,000 units of blood. This is equivalent to 200-250 units of blood per region. Each donor will be asked to give one pint of blood. The annual target of the National Blood Service is 250,000 pints per year.
The campaign will be held across the 10 regions of Ghana and span over 3 months (October through December). The climax of the campaign will conclude with the Christmas holiday. The idea is to encourage Ghanaians to donate blood as a gift of a lifetime.
