The Vineland Rotary Club, District 7640, New Jersey, USA, has scheduled its third blood drive this year to be held in connection with the World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) in June, according to the club's blood drive organizer, Ron McMahon (photo).
"I wanted to let you know that I've scheduled a blood drive for our Rotary Club on June 14, the nearest day possible to that date. It will be our club's 3rd blood drive in 2008, Ron McMahon said in a mail to www.ourblooddrive.org dated January 24.
This makes the Vineland RC the first Rotary Club officially to join the World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) 2008 within Rotary International after the Board of Directors of Global Network for Blood Donation, a Rotarian Action Group last year decided to endorse the international blood donor event.
The World World Blood Donor Day is jointly coordinated by four founding partners: the World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations and the International Society of Blood Transfusion.

At the last club meeting in January, the Vineland Rotary Club presented Ron with a plaque thanking him for his 15+ years of service to the American Cross and organizing the club's blood drives.
Last year, the American Red Cross honored the Vineland Rotary Club with a certificate for the club's achievement.
