Rayat- Bahra Ropar Campus added to its list of philanthropist tasks by organizing its Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in connection with celebrating the International Science Day.

Students from all colleges participated with great enthusiasm. The Camp was organized in association with with Punjab Health Systems Corporation, SGHS Charitable Hospital Sohana, Rotary Club Ropar and NSS Unit of RIEIT and Rayat Institute of Management.

It was inaugurated by, Deputy Commissioner Ropar shri Karnesh Sharma IAS& Chairman RBGI Gurvinder singh Bahra along with campus director Dr Suresh Seth. Dr R.S. Parmar, PDG Rotary Club Rupnagar and Dr Sneh Lata Badhwar, Principal Government College Rupnagar, were the Guest of Honor.

Sh. Karnesh Sharma said that such a huge participation of youth in blood donation is an encouraging indicator of voluntarism and awareness. He further added that such camps are a boon for the thalassemic patients and other patients of excessive blood loss.

Talking about the event Dr suresh seth told that that the Blood Donation Camp is conducted every year at Rayat Bahra Ropar Campus to inculcate awareness and commitment amongst the students, faculty & staff towards social responsibility. A total of 413 units of blood were collected this time. The smooth conduct of the camp was ensured by the round the clock efforts of NSS students organizers/coordinators.

 

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman, Rayat-Bahra Group said that At present only twenty percent (20%) of the required blood comes from voluntary donors while the rest comes from family members and friends of patients who need blood. He blessed and thanked the blood donors for participating in this noble cause by joining hands with NSS Volunteers to serve the society at large.

Dr R.S. Parmar, PDG Rotary Club Rupnagar said that there is no substitute for blood donation. If you donate blood, you can help in saving lives of many patients.
