The Manila Rotary Club of Tondo, District 3810, has served more than 1000 patients with free medicines and immunizations during the first half of the Rotary year 2007-08, according to the club's website.  In November 2007, the club added a blood donor drive to its project list.

The tally from the drive shows, that 137 people, including Rotarians, volunteered to give blood, out of whom 73 were rejected for various reasons. The amount of collected blood ended at 64 bags.

The blood donor drive was conducted in collaboration with the national Red Cross and assisted by friends, including two other Rotary clubs and a couple of other organizations.

Tondo is located in one of the poorest and most underdeveloped parts of Manila, capital of the Philippines. Many of the capital's slums are found ind this area, which is primarily residental-industrial.
