Dear colleagues,

The Global WBDD 2014 Report is in the process of being compiled by the WHO Blood and Transfusion Safety (BTS) programme in the Service Delivery and Safety Department, in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service of Sri Lanka, the host of this year’s global event. This will include reports of activities and stories from countries around the world on their WBDD celebrations. (Please see link to WBDD 2013 report

We would greatly appreciate it if all members of this network submit country stories of WBDD celebrations, with pictures if possible, for inclusion in the Global WBDD 2014 Report.

Please use the attached template for compiling the report so that there is consistency in the content and format of the report, covering the national/local WBDD events and send your reports to Dr Charuni Kohombange, Co-Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the WBDD 2014 Global Event, National Blood Transfusion Service of Sri Lanka ( with copy to Dr Yetmgeta Eyayou, Technical Officer, Blood and Transfusion Safety, WHO-Geneva ( The global report is planned to be finalized by 15 November 2014. We are therefore looking forward to receiving your country stories as soon as possible.
